Menarini Pharma in Belgium : more than 20 years of growth and welfare

Stimulated by Dr. Aleotti, CEO of the Menarini Group, the elaboration of the investment plan of Menarini started in 1983, right in the center of the EU, through the creation of the subsidiary Menarini Belgium in Brussels. At that time it was only the second subsidiary after Spain. One can indeed see the eighties as a turning point in the international investment policy of the Menarini Group which was called the ‘Toscan Flower’ at that time.

The development of the pharmaceutical activities started more than 20 years ago in Belgium and in Luxembourg i.e. in September 1987. At that time, the pharma team consisted of 15 employees including 9 medical representatives. Now, we have a headcount of about 160 employees including about 90 medical representatives.

In Belgium, the activities of Menarini focus on the market of gastroenterology, topical anti-inflammatory products, diabetes and, since some years, on the field of cardiology.

Menarini has conquered the leading position (MSvalue 20%) on the market of the betablockers, which proves that the cardiologists highly value the quality of our products and the professionalism of our collaborators.

More recently (2007), a new division was founded to commercialize a range of babyfood called ‘Novalac’.

Our company has been 6 times awarded the ‘Gazellen Prize‘, organized by the economic magazine TRENDS which rewards the best performing companies in the Flemish region. We are really proud to belong to this select club which includes also large companies such as Microsoft, Novartis and Toyota.
